Why size matters more than price

A container that is too small means a second haul and a second fee. A container that is too large means paying for empty space you never used. Sizing is the single decision that most affects what a rental actually costs.

Roll-off sizes are measured in cubic yards of volume, but every container also carries a weight allowance. Whichever limit you hit first ends the rental, which is why heavy materials belong in small boxes.

What each size actually holds

A 10 yard box holds roughly three pickup loads and suits a single bathroom remodel, a small deck tear-out, or heavy concrete. A 15 yard box fits a garage cleanout or a kitchen demo. A 20 yard box is the most-rented size in Visalia and handles a whole-house declutter, a mid-sized roof, or flooring across 1,500 square feet. A 30 yard box suits new construction and large remodels. A 40 yard box is for commercial volume and bulky, lightweight material like cabinetry or packaging.

A simple sizing method

Stack everything you plan to throw away in one place if you can, or estimate in pickup-truck loads. Three truck loads is roughly ten yards. Then ask whether the material is heavy. If more than a quarter of the load is concrete, dirt, tile, plaster, or wet debris, drop one size and expect the weight limit to govern.
